Crypto Daily 2026-10-19: Bitcoin Holds 80K Threshold, Fear & Greed Index Returns to Greed Zone

Bitcoin has returned to the $82,000 line, the Fear & Greed Index has climbed from neutral back into the greed zone, yet ETFs are still seeing net outflows. The 80K threshold is holding for now, but buying momentum has yet to catch up.

[Price]

Bitcoin is currently at $82,089, up 0.83% in 24 hours; Ethereum is at $2,406.77, up 0.27%. BTC remains pinned near the lower edge of the $80,000–87,000 range, holding above $80,500, with upside resistance seen at $83,000.

[Sentiment]

The alternative.me Fear & Greed Index stands at 59 for the day, in "Greed" territory; the previous reading was 53, "Neutral." Sentiment has climbed from neutral back to greed, but fund flow data has not kept pace.

[Fund Flows]

Most recent U.S. Eastern trading day (October 16): U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows of $82.39 million. IBIT alone saw outflows of $71.78 million, FBTC saw outflows of $10.61 million, and the remaining products had no net inflows or outflows. Month-to-date net outflows for October have widened to $614.9 million; year-to-date still shows net inflows of $315.5 million. Spot Ethereum ETFs saw net outflows of $69.68 million on the same day.

[Assessment]

Range-thinking continues: as long as BTC stands above $80,500, the setup is skewed bullish; a break below $80,000 would be the signal to admit error. ETFs showed net outflows again last Friday, yet the price did not break down, indicating that selling pressure is being absorbed. Operationally, do not chase; near 80K, use limit orders to passively accumulate in batches, keeping ample position flexibility while awaiting directional confirmation. Funding rate data is temporarily unavailable and is not included in this issue.

[Data Notes]

Prices are taken from CoinGecko (snapshot at 08:26 Beijing time on October 19), sentiment is taken from alternative.me, ETF fund flows are cited from SoSoValue/Trader T's October 16 data (cross-verified via TokenPost and TradingView), and the assessment is original commentary from this column.
