[The Information] Crosby, a two-year-old legal AI startup whose lawyers use AI to speed up contract review and other legal tasks, has submitted a bid for some of the assets of Weil, Gotshal & Manges following the law firm's sudden decision to wind down, according to a person familiar with the bid. Crosby submitted a letter of intent on Thursday to purchase some of Weil's assets, including internal data, its trademark and its brand, the person said. Terms of the bid could not be immediately learned. Crosby also hopes to hire some of Weil's 1,200 lawyers, according to the person.
