[The Information] As AI agents crowd onto the web, advertisers and publishers are beginning to deliver ads that only AI can see. According to The Information, the first publisher to experiment with these invisible ads was Time magazine, which continues to generate a significant portion of its revenue from ads on Time.com. The ads—for Ally Bank and the Project Management Institute, a trade group for project managers—first appeared online in August and were developed in partnership with Mobian, a New York-based ad tech startup. They were designed to give agents information about the institute's expertise in project management and Ally Bank's online banking services and ATM network. Time Chief Operating Officer Mark Howard said that following the ads' debut, Time has had over 30 meetings with brands about doing similar ads for AI agents, and several new advertisers are launching them now. Some of the agents' developers have voiced consternation, fearing marketers could try to sway agents to take actions without their users' knowledge.
