Adding the cost of the at-the-money call and put for the first expiry after the report gives a rough measure of the move the market prices. ASML closed on 8 October 2026 at EUR 1,630.60. At the closest listed strike, 1,620, the call mid of EUR 59.20 and the put mid of EUR 45.98 add up to about EUR 105, or roughly 6.5% of the share price (Source: Saxo, indicative quotes as of the 8 October 2026 Euronext close; the market was closed when the quotes were taken, so they are not live tradable prices). The straddle also covers the ordinary trading days before the report, so it modestly overstates the event alone.
The more useful comparison is with what ASML has actually done. Over its last eight reports, the absolute move from the previous close to the close on report day averaged 5.9% and had a median of 4.7%. Six of the eight moves were declines, and the largest, a 15.6% fall in October 2024, followed results that were published hours early by mistake (Source: Saxo price data, author calculation). The priced 6.5% is larger than six of those eight moves and smaller than the two biggest. None of this says anything about the direction of the next move.
ASML's absolute move from previous close to report-day close for its last eight reports, against the roughly 6.5% move priced into the 16 October 2026 expiry (at-the-money straddle, indicative quotes as of the 8 October 2026 Euronext close).
